“I have such a tendency to cover up everything with humor, and I’m a pretty bubbly person naturally, so I’ve really been surprised by friends and acquaintances over the past few months who truly had no idea that my alopecia is something that I am deeply, deeply struggling with every day. For example, I didn’t know if I would wear a wig today to a press event, and I cried while trying to make that decision last night. I’m not asking for sympathy, it’s just something that I’m learning to cope with. I definitely am doing better now than I have in months, but I think that this has made me look at other people and realize that we really don’t know what’s going on in their lives behind closed doors, and we should treat people with kindness.”
